advisable, because losing weight through calorie restriction alone will
reduce the mineral density of bones and increases the risk of osteoporosis.
Weight loss through dieting will lead to so
many side effects as inner organs get affected due insufficient intake a
nutrition during the prolonged period of dieting. It is essential to take
nutritional food supplements with less calorie during the weight loss plan. But
many weight loss

to the research two groups were formed among forty eight healthy, non-obese
people in their 50s. The first group was asked to reduce calorie by 16 per
cent in the first three months and then 20 per cent for the rest of the
year. The second group was made to spend energy -that means exercise- by 16
per cent in the first three months and then by 20 percent for the rest of
the year. Their heart rate was monitored during that period.
The Findings
17 pounds were lost by the calorie restriction
group that is diet group and 14 pounds were lost by the exercise group. But
the diet group lost bone density at the spine, hips and legs. But
among the exercise group there was no significant change in bone density.
The results appeared in the archives of Internal Medicine. They recommend
both diet-taking supplements- and exercise in any weight loss plan so that you can get the
benefit of diet and prevent negative effect on bone health.
