 Dangers Of Losing Weight Rapidly

 

Obesity is a one of the major health problems daunting the people the world over. It is natural to have the desire to be slim and beautiful. Shedding weight is the cause for concern among obese people. There is no doubt that obesity is causing major health problems, from heart disease to diabetes.

But it is pity that many want to lose weight keeping in mind the beauty aspect alone and not the health aspect. So in their urge to lose weight quickly they tend to ignore the health side. The more stunning fact is that many are totally ignorant of the side effects of losing weight quickly through unsafe and unhealthy programs.

The tendency to lose weight quickly is prominent among the young generation and the sport persons. The popular sports like wrestling, body building and boxing have an ugly side that we rarely know about. The sports persons of these events try to lose weight quickly, often with damaging side effects to their health. They choose the rapid method of losing weight so that they can participate in the lower weight category with his or her size as advantage.

Coaches are also playing an important role in inducing this dangerous trend among the young athletes.  They see the immediate glory and fame and totally ignore the consequences of their action to their future health. The rapid weight loss, in body building, thins the tissues covering the muscles, thereby making the muscles more prominent. The athletes, after the competition is over, gain weight rapidly in the same speed as the lost weight. This cycle of losing and gaining weight rapidly occurs many times in a players career. This frequent change in their weight take them to a more health hazard zone.

Irrespective of your age, losing weight rapidly is dangerous. The youngsters who are still in growing stage this will affect even their growth. Some of the crude methods used are, unsafe pills, forced vomiting, long period of thirsty, inducing higher urine volume and fluid loss, starvation and laxatives. Weight cycling by dehydration and starvation can be devastating.

The consequences are even more dangerous. This cyclic change affects both physical and mental health. Dehydration and the methods used to achieve it can cause

electrolyte disturbances. These disturbances can sometimes be fatal. Renal failure can occur by severe dehydration. Starvation can disturb the hormone status. During starvation the body's vital organs are denied the essential nutrition to function normally and this may lead to irreparable damage to them.

To achieve short term fame don't ignore your long term health and happiness. The guidance for a healthy weight loss for public is no different from the rules of the sportsman. Practice the safe and healthy weight loss methods. During dieting take less calorie food supplements so that your vital organs are not starved of essential nutrition. Know the ideal weight for your height and if at all want to lose weight use safe dieting and healthy weight loss program.
